Uber is rolling out ticketing for public transportation in San Antonio

EuroTraffic December 23, 2024
uber

Uber, the global giant in the transportation of passengers, is expanding its services in the area of public transportation. Through its app, Uber will allow users in San Antonio to buy tickets for public transportation directly from the app. This new functionality is the result of Uber’s partnership with VIA Metropolitan Transit and Masabi. These two companies operate public transportation in this city.

Cooperation with VIA Metropolitan Transit and Masabi allows Uber users to quickly and easily buy tickets for public transport. This will make it significantly easier to plan and pay for the trips. This initiative should encourage multimodal transport. It will be easier for users to combine different modes of transport with only one point of payment.

Thanks to the integration of this functionality into the Uber app, users have the option to purchase public transport tickets using the same payment profile they already use for Uber rides. This ensures simplicity and convenience for passengers, eliminating the need for separate apps or physical tickets for transportation.

This initiative also provides an additional ticketing channel for VIA Metropolitan Transit and Masabi. Integration through the Uber app provides an opportunity for transportation companies to reach new users and improve the passenger experience.

This collaboration is a step toward creating an integrated transportation system in San Antonio. Through this partnership, Uber, VIA Metropolitan Transit and Masabi are creating the foundation for urban mobility as it should be – efficient and easily accessible.

Integration through Masabi’s SDK

The systems are integrated using Massabi’s ticketing SDK. SDK or software development kit, represents a series of software tools that enable partner companies to integrate with the original software.

This project marks the long-awaited beginning of transformative changes in the transportation industry. Integrating transportation and public transport applications will become essential to achieving a sustainable and efficient system in the future.
