Swedish company EasyPark Group has officially completed the acquisition of Flowbird Group, creating one of the largest players in the parking and urban transportation industry globally. This strategic acquisition enables the pooling of technologies and resources, with the aim of improving parking and mobility solutions in cities around the world.
The merger of two big names in the industry
EasyPark first announced its intention to take over Flowbird in the fall of 2023, and now, just over a year later, the acquisition is officially complete. Cameron Clayton, current CEO of EasyPark Group, has taken over as CEO of the newly formed company, while Frédéric Beylier, CEO of Flowbird, is leaving the company.
EasyPark, known for its mobile parking payment application and other software solutions, has been growing rapidly in recent years. Several strategic acquisitions were made, including the takeover of ParkMobile and other competitors. On the other hand, Flowbird, a French company with about 1,000 employees, has become recognizable for its parking meters and software solutions. The company was created in 2018 by the merger of Parekon and Cale. It is not yet known whether the Flowbird brand will continue to exist.
What does the acquisition bring?
The newly formed company is expected to offer comprehensive parking and transportation services on a global scale. Cities and users will have advanced digital parking management solutions in one place. However, as often happens with large corporate mergers, business optimizations are ahead. This could result in redundancies as part of team integration and resource sharing.
This acquisition marks a significant moment for the parking industry, as it forms a dominant player capable of even greater innovation and urban traffic challenges in the future.
