Key project to improve connectivity in Western Herzegovina
On October 14, 2025, in Mostar, JP Autoceste FBiH signed contracts for the construction of the Mostar – Polog – Široki Brijeg – Croatian border expressway, covering two sections: Polugrno – Podledinac and Podledinac – Grude East.
The contracts were signed by Denis Lasić, Director of JP Autoceste FBiH, and Ladislav Bevanda, Director of Hering d.d. Široki Brijeg, representing the contractor consortium consisting of Hering d.d. and KTM Brina d.o.o. Posušje.
Funded by the Government of the Federation of B&H, the project aims to strengthen transport connections across Western Herzegovina. It will also improve integration with the Corridor Vc motorway and the European transport network. The completion period for both sections is set at 30 months.
“The signing of these contracts shows that, despite the priority of the Corridor Vc, we are not gonna neglect other regions. This expressway will enhance economic activity and better connect Western Herzegovina to Croatia and the EU,” said Lasić.
Construction details and infrastructure scope
The Polugrno – Podledinac section, 5.48 km long, will cost €23.9 million (46.8 million BAM) excluding VAT. It includes a new interchange with toll facilities, three underpasses, one overpass, and the Zvirnjače viaduct.
The Podledinac – Grude East section, 6.36 km long and valued at €30.5 million (59.6 million BAM) excluding VAT. Section will feature two interchanges with toll stations, two overpasses, one underpass, and the Krštelica viaduct.
Part of a broader transport development strategy

These projects are expected to significantly improve road safety, travel times, and regional economic integration between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and the European Union.
